Jaguar launched its first all-electric concept car, the IPACE, at the annual Los Angeles motor show this week.
The £60,000 model promises sports car performance with a 0-60mph sprint of just four seconds and a top speed of 200mph.
Yet Jaguar claims a range of 310 miles will be possible on a single charge when driving more conservatively meaning the average business commuter, with a 30-odd mile round trip, will only need to charge the car once a week.
For those travelling further, the IPACE also comes with a rapid-charge system to fully replenish the its batteries in just two hours, if you have the right equipment.
Although still officially a conceptual model, Jaguar has confirmed the IPACE is close to production-ready and will be on showrooms by late 2018.
As a premium vehicle with a luxurious interior and sweeping looks, it is a direct challenger to the trailblazing Tesla Model S. It is also the first EV Jaguar to break cover since the British marque joined the Formula E grid earlier this year.
