Chinese EV Hypercar Chasing Tesla

28 November 2016

Bold Chinese start-up, NextEV, have launched their new NIO EP9 190mph four-wheel-drive electric hypercar. Only six of the 1,341bhp carbon fibre models will be built and all have already been sold. Claimed to accelerate to 60mph in 2.7 seconds and have twice the aerodynamic downforce of an F1 car, the EP9 also boasts a charge time of 45 minutes and the ability to change battery packs in a record eight minutes.  Intended as a halo model to burnish the new NextEV brand - which plans to produce more mass-market models in the future - the EP9 has also set a new world record as the fastest EV round the legendary Nurburgring test track in Germany.
