Ford Blows Cold on EVs

22 December 2016

Ford CEO, Mark Fields, will be lobbying Donald Trump to re-examine US fuel economy standards, saying ‘we want to make sure that fuel economy regulations are aligned with market realities’. As well as suggesting current fuel economy requirements for automakers are currently too high he also implied that the American EV market is standing still. He said that the current US market penetration of EVs is only 2.8% compared with 2.3% in 2008. In the same month Daimler announced a 10b euro investment in EV research and development and VW 3.5b euros.
